内容介绍 :	Businessman Meng Bochang has a son, Langsheng, who carries on a relationship with opera actress Little Guixiang. Bochang disapproves the relationship, fearing that his son would take up his old path. He goes on to reminisce about a past event. In his early years in Beijing, Bochang had fallen in love with Bai Zhenzhu, the concubine of his best friend Chen Qinggeng, who had already given birth to Qinggeng's son, was again pregnant. News came that Qinggeng would soon return. An anxious Zhenzhu attempted an abortion just when news of Qinggeng's death arrived. The baby was saved but Zhenzhu herself died. Bochang left the place with Langsheng , Qinggeng's son, and abandoned his own baby daughter in the nursery. Hoping that Langsheng will not make the same mistake in love, Bochang demands that Little Guixiang give up her life on the stage after her engagement with Langsheng, and that she marries Langsheng only after he returns from his studies overseas. However, before the couple even has time to enjoy this breakthrough, Langsheng is kidnapped by a gang of abductors. Little Guixiang is consequently sold by her mother to a local ruffian. Little Guixiang runs away to find Langsheng . Unable to find her lover, Little Guixiang finds work in a factory and loses contact with Langsheng. Years later, the two lovers meet again, and plan to marry with the consent of Bochang. When Bochang finally meets Little Guixiang, he finally realises that she is his own daughter, the baby that he had abandoned years before. In order to stop them from getting married, Bochang takes Little Guixiang away. (Extracted from the film brochure)
