内容介绍 : | Xiao Zhongyi runs an acrobatic troupe that is unable to make ends meet. To survive, troupe members reluctantly perform in a dance hall. Zhongyi's daughter Lotus becomes the main attraction. The manager of the dance hall, Mr Tang, believes the name of the troupe has lost its attraction and wants to change the name to Lotus acrobatic troupe. Before long, Lotus is asked to dress in a see-through and tacky costume for performance. The troupe protests and leaves the dance hall. Tie Zhu, a troupe member, is in love with Lotus and makes her pregnant out of marriage. Zhongyi knows it and forces Lotus to abort. Tie Zhu argues fiercely with Zhongyi, leading Lotus to sadly run away from the troupe. Zhongyi is full of remorse over hurting her daughter. Meanwhile, Lotus misses her father and returns. Their grudges are mutually forgiven. Manager Tang has sent his subordinates to demand compensation from Zhongyi for breach of contract. The men take away the troupe's props . Zhongyi and his troupe resolve to stage their shows on the streets, hoping to raise funds for their trip back to the mainland. Gangsters demanding protection money harass the troupe during its street performance. Tie Zhu puts up a fight but is stabbed and wounded. As Tie Zhu is unable to perform, the pregnant Lotus forces herself into the stage. But during the performance, Lotus suffers labour pains and is rushed to hospital. To cover Lotus's medical expenses, Tie Zhu agrees to undertake a dangerous performance at Manager Tang's dance hall. Lotus gives birth to a baby. She recovers and is discharged from hospital. The troupe finally abandons its nomadic way of life and returns to the mainland to start a new life. (Based on viewing of the film.) |
