内容介绍 : | Lee Yuk-lan is in love with an artist Cheung Yiu-man, but he has already sealed a marriage pact with his former classmate Chow Yin-ping. Yuk-lan gracefully withdraws, and, acting on the advice of her aunt, goes to Southeast Asia where she becomes a famous popular singer. Later, she returns to Hong Kong where she stays incognito. Yiu-man's marriage to Yin-ping is not a happy one. He is getting nowhere with his career, while Yin-ping is suffering from ill health after giving birth to a son, Siu-kai. Yiu-man's mother is constantly at odds with Yin- ping and treats her badly. Siu-kai is now eleven years old. One day, he and Yuen-yee, a neighbouring girl, are singing on the streets for a living. The song is "Saying No to Marriage," a number previously sung by Yuk-lan. Yuk-lan happens to pass by and recognises the song. She learns from Siu-kai of Yiu-man's straitened circumstances and decides to help him develop a career in transportation business in Southeast Asia. Not wishing to cause any misunderstanding with Yin-ping, Yuk-lan remains an anonymous benefactor. Yin-ping's illness takes a turn for the worse and it is now confirmed that she has a lung disease. Her mother-in-law keeps further away from her. Yin- ping's condition deteriorates when Siu-kai divulges the fact that her husband's benefactor is none but Yuk-lan. Yin-ping is sent to hospital. Yuk-lan pays a visit to her. Yin-ping entreats Yuk-lan on her deathbed to marry Yiu-man and look after Siu-kai. Thus, Yuk-lan and Yiu-man finally tie the knot, after numerous twists and turns.
