内容介绍 : Lee Lei is a song girl performing at a wayside inn. Her brother, Lee Lung is in love with Ah Bing, the inn owner's daughter. The bartender Ah Sing is in love with dancer Ah Ping. One day, the captain of the Imperial Guard takes liberties with Lei, and is beaten back by Lung. The vindictive captain complains to the Prime Minister and the two scheme to arrest the five principals at the inn. The Prime Minister is administering a conspiracy, involving the Queen Dowager, with whom he is having an affair with, to overthrow the King. The Chief Minister, however, is on the King's side and persuades His Majesty to tour the country incognito so that he may see for himself the suffering of his people under the Prime Minister's regime. The King stops at the wayside inn, where he hears Lei sing a song criticising the government. Touched, the King falls in love with the singer. He becomes good friends with the other principals at the inn, and resolves to defend the captain. That night, however, the captain attacks the inn and captures Lei , Ah Bing and Ah Ping, and takes them into the palace to be interrogated by the Prime Minister. Rejecting the Prime Minister's sexual advances, the three women are thrown into a dungeon. Ah Sing fails in his attempt to rescue the women and is captured . The four prisoners come up with a scheme to seduce the Prime Minister and lure him with alcohol. The Queen Dowager becomes jealous as a result. Meanwhile, Lung and Ah Wai sneak into the palace to rescue Ah Sing, but Lung misunderstands that Ah Bing has turned her coat out of an insatiable desire for vanity. At this time, the Prime Minister is about to stage a coup and murder the King. Lung launches an assault against the Prime Minister and his cohorts, while Ah Sing leads the people in a rebellion and invades the palace. Finally, the Prime Minister is killed; the Queen Dowager has fled and the King's power is restored. Lee Lung is made Prime Minister; his misunderstanding with Ah Bing is cleared. The respective romantic partners are matched. (Based on viewing of the film.)
