内容介绍 : | During the reign of Emperor Tung Chi in the Qing dynasty, orphan girl But Lan-ying, nicknamed Little Cabbage, is offered shelter at the home of the Got family because of wartime circumstances. Consequently, Little Cabbage is married at age seventeen to Got Siu-tai. Yeung Nai-mo, a scholar excels in medicine, meets Little Cabbage during a house call to treat Siu-tai. Nai-mo and Little Cabbage conduct an affair, which is known only to Siu-tai's sister, Sam-ku. However, Sam-ku is too feeble-minded to be aware of the ramifications of the affair. When Nai-mo is ordered by his mother to get married, he ends the affair. Cheng Yan-loi is the son of the new magistrate Cheng Kwong-cho. Craving after Little Cabbage, Yan-loi colludes with the pharmacist Chin Kwai-sang to perscribe Little Cabbage a drug. Rendered senseless, Yan-loi rapes Little Cabbage. When Yan-loi tries to meet with Little Cabbage, he comes across Siu-tai, and hastily beats him up before running away. Siu-tai staggers up to pursue Yan-loi, who runs into Nai-mo's house to evade his pursuer. Siu-tai immediately suspects Nai-mo but the house is holding a celebration at that moment, marking Nai-mo's promotion. Siu-tai gives up the chase and returns home. Siu-tai is seriously injured by Yan-toi's beating, vomiting blood. To throw suspicion away from Nai-mo, Little Cabbage invites Nai-mo to treat Siu-tai and Nai-mo issues him a prescription statement for medicine at Chin's pharmacy. Kwai-sang informed Yan-loi about this and the two collude to do away with Siu-tai. After Siu-tai's death, rumours abound. His brother, Siu-yee, returns home for his funeral, and submits Sam-ku to an interrogation. A case is brought before the authorities. (Continued in part two) (Extracted from the film brochure) |
