内容介绍 :	Kwong Sai-cheung's father, Kwong Fuk, has gone to America to make a living. Believing that his father has made a fortune, Sai-cheung is spoilt by his mother, and misled by friend Johnny, into leading a spendthrift lifestyle. Though married to Leung Mei-kuen, a chaste and kind woman, Sai-cheung befriends Fanny Luk, whose guardians are convinced that Sai-cheung is the heir to a family fortune and try to scrounge off him. Eventually, Sai-cheung abandons his wife, evicting her out of the home on the pretext that she has helped a friend with the proceeds of a gold bracelet. Sai-cheung is forced to mortgage the house to finance his spending. Kwong Fuk returns home, hardly the rich man that he is perceived to be, but he is kept in the dark about his son's profligate ways . The father runs a laundry business and works hard. Mei-kuen comes to look for a job and is given one. Both father and daughter-in-law are unaware that they are related. Impressed by Mei-kuen's hard work, father wants to introduce her to his son as a possible spouse. Father is enraged when he learns that the son had signed away the property deeds. In a fit of anger, Fuk banishes his son. Sai-cheung is rejected in turn by Fanny, and jeered by Johnny when asking for money. He realises his past mistakes when he sees his father and wife working hard together washing laundry by the riverside. He goes forward to join in the hard work, resolving to become a new man.
