内容介绍 : | Bo Fei-yin, the daughter of Bo Chung, is the concubine of Mo Ping-yip. During Ping-yip's absence, Fei-yin becomes the lover of Chiu Luk-ping, a neighbour. When Ping-yip returns, he catches the two lovers together in bed, and in a fit of anger, beats Fei-yin to death. Meanwhile, a sad Luk-ping retreats to a hermitage where he begins a process of mourning and repentance. Luk-ping's sister Mang-chu is taken into concubinage by Ping-yip in order to ensure a means of livelihood for her mother. Seventeen years pass. Fei-yin's sister Tsui-yee has grown into adulthood. She has a chance encounter with Luk-ping and falls in love with him at first sight. She invites Luk-ping home for a date. Intending to take up holy orders as a monk the next day, Luk-ping finds himself unable to turn down Tsui-yee's invitation. On meeting Tsui-yee, Ping-yip's lust for the young woman is stirred up. He is insistent on taking Tsui-yee as his concubine, creating great anxiety on Tsui-yee's part. Tsui-yee is thus even keener to obtain Luk-ping's love. One day, Luk-ping realises that Tsui Yee is the sister of his dead lover. Thus, Luk-ping is unwilling to carry the affair further. Dejected, Tsui-yee attempts to kill herself but is saved. Mang-chu builds a false grave for Tsui-yee, awaiting the day when all parties concerned -- Ping-yip , Bo Chung, Madam Chiu -- realise their mistake and repent, and thereafter to make it known that Tsui-yee is in fact still alive. Luk-ping is finally moved by Tsui-yee's love to renounce monkhood and marry her. (Based on the script of the original Cantonese opera) |
备注 : | Based on Cantonese opera of the same titleAccording to the advertisements, the film's budget was $100000 and took two years to makePlaywright's comment, 'Ho Fei-fan and Hung Sin-nui were co-starring in a film for the first time, and everybody thought this was an exciting event in the artistic world I was stimulated by this collaboration of the two stars because it betters a script when you put together different elements to bring out good subject matter In writing a script, if you have different characters and you put them together, you create sparks, and drama' (Excerpt from the brochure of the Cantonese opera) |
