内容介绍 : | Cheung Wing-chiu, heir to a family fortune, has a chance encounter with servant girl Ah Bing, and immediately sets out to court her. His driver, Ah Tak, suggests that he impersonates a vegetable hawker to get close to Ah Bing. Ah Tak, meanwhile, has fallen for laundry woman Ah Lan. Ah Lan's brother Lee Ming fancies rich girl Fung Lai-yin, and borrows Wing-chiu's wardrobe to impersonate a rich man to court Lai- yin. Telling his father that he is going to Macau, Wing-chiu goes instead to the home where Ah Bing works and finds employment there as a servant. His employer is in fact, Lai-yin, whose parents are good friends with Cheung Hong -nin, Wing-chiu's father. Hong-nin has been invited by Lai-yin's parents to visit so that they may discuss marriage plans for their children. An anxious Wing-chiu tells Lai-yin's father a false story, telling him that Hong -nin is a bankrupt and conman. At this point, Lai-yin brings Lee Ming home to see her parents. Hong-nin notices that Ming is wearing his son's clothes. As he takes a closer look, this gesture leads Lai-yin's father to conclude that he is a conman after all. Lai-yin's father asks to meet Ming's parents. Ah Tak comes up with a plan to use Hong-nin's home as Ming's, exploiting the fact that Hong-nin has gone to Macau to search for Wing-chiu. Now Wing-chiu has successfully proposed to Ah Bing and Hong-nin also returns home. A farce follows; when things are explained, Hong-nin does not mind that Ah Bing is a servant girl, and Lai-yin's parents accept Ming despite his humble background. The respective matches are happily married off. (Extracted from the film brochure.) |
