内容介绍 :	A scurffy presence in blue jeans and T-shirt, Auggies's gruff demeanor hides a decent, street-smart philosopher. For Auggie, the store has become a refuge. Julted by love, he is content to spend his days behind the counter. Every morning for the past 13 years, he has taken a photograph of the corner outside the store-more than four-thousand pictures of the exact same place. Among the smoke shop's regular customers is Paul Benjamin, a novelist in his mid-30s suffering from a severe case of writer's block. Several years before, right outside the smoke shop, his pregnant wife was tragically murdered in front of him. One night, while looking at Auggie's photos, Paul notices himself in one of them. Taken shortly afterhis wife's death, he is barely recognizable, a figure wracked by grief. Staring at a man he hardly knows, Paul is struck with an idea for a story. Suddenly alive with creativity, his every thought consumed by his writing, Paul absentmindedly steps in front of a city bus, only to be pulled back by a teen-ager named Rashid Cole. To show his gratitude, Paul buys Rashid lunch and learns that he's on the run. From who or what Rashid won't say. Paul offers him a place to stey and an unlikely friendship begins. Meanwhile, Auggie is visited by his one true love the one-eyed Ruby McNutt, whom he hasn't seen in 18 years. She surprises him with news that the daughter he never knew he had needs his help......
