| 内容介绍 : | These Shoes Weren't Made For Walking is a documentary film about for generations of Chinese women in my family. The film uses their personal testimonies, interwoven with the stories about their shoes, to explore the socio-cultural roles women have occupied in Chinese society over the past century. This past century has been a particularly turbulent period in modern Chinese history, moving form Imperial China to Nationalist China to Japanese occupation to British colonial Hong Kong, and now with 1997 fast approaching, to the emigration from Hong Kong to Canada, England, Australia, etc. The film pays tribute to the strenght and tenacity of the women in my family, and to their struggle for a better life for their family, as feudal memories come clashing head-on with high-tech Western technology. To where will these women take their shoes in 1997? |
| 备注 : | Director's Note : The idea for this film came to me when I turned 30 two years age As I stepped into my middle-age, I also came to the awareness that my grandmother and my mother might not always be with me And with Hong Kong reverting to Chinese rule in 1997, the home of my childhood may forever change I made this film as a poetic tribute, with affections and nostalgia, to my family, to my birthplace, and to the four women who have shaped my life |
