| 内容介绍 : | Underground Girl is an experimental documentary. It is about an Eurasian girl, Chris Bowers, born and brought up in Hong Kong. The project is strongly led by images, music and effects which are used often to illustrate Chris's character. The basis of the film concerns her conflicting feelings of being both Chinese and English, her thoughts on her culture and identity. We also see another side to Chris's personality when she is performing with her band "The Sisters of Sharon". The story starts with Chris introduced on a mountain, then it goes to Chris in the city, then to Lamma Island. |
| 备注 : | Director's Note: The style of the film was just as important to us as the content We wanted to make a documentary that was visually exciting A lot of effort was spent to make the video look like old film and many different techniques were used in camera to give it a Super 8 like look in certain parts We had a strong idea of the imagery before the idea of the story We wanted to do a one on one documentary profile - tofind someone with an interesting story to tell, someone who had a more unusual life as well as a person who reflects Hong Kong We thought Chris had a very strong personality, both in real life and in her stage persona She has an interseting insight into both English expatriate and Chinese cultures All in all, both Sherry and I had a great time making this little film It wasn't easy because of time constraints with both of us working ful time But as it is our hobby, we were happy to give up our weekends and nights to complete the project ( Moray Wedderburn) |
