She also intends to look for Tsai so as to cancel their dealings . But Tsai has gone to Macau. Luo finally makes his proposal to Lin, who suggests having their honeymoon in Macau. On their way, Lin suspects that she is tracked by somebody. When she manages to find Tsai, Tsai is killed before her eyes. Lin thinks that the killer's target is she herself and thus runs away without consideration. Feeling that Lin is frightened, Luo returns to Hong Kong with Lin earlier than scheduled. When they reach their home door, they discover that they are under surveillance. Unable to bear any more, Lin decides to explain everything to the killer. Chou Yu, the killer, disguises himself as a policeman and takes Lin away. Chou fears that Lin will provide evidence against him as the one who has killed Tsai and thus wants to do her away. Fortunately, Luo and the police arrive in time and subdue Chou. In the end, Lin receives Tsai's letter written before his death. It turns out that a long time ago, Tsai had refused to help her kill the person who marries Luo. |

备注 : | Screenwriter Chang Cheh: The subject matter is only good for a short film which should end with the character getting caught by his own law A short film's strength becomes a feature-length film's weakness—the clever gist becomes the biggest flaw I undertook four revisions to patch up the flaw, to rally sympathy for the main characters, even writing alcoholism into the female protagonistI couldn't find fault with my revisions until I watched it in the cinema It struck me that the script too vaguely attributed her alcoholism to old habits and failed to address the deeper, psychological issues—it was too late to make amends (14 December 1960, 'New Life Evening Post')Chang Cheh discussed in his 'He Guan's Film Talk' column that the script of 'Death Traps' went through several revisions before he began rewriting the screenplay; the original story was loosely based on an American detective story (See 14 December 1960, 'New Life Evening Post') |
