内容介绍 :	Afang falls in love with university student Li Zimin and becomes pregnant with his child. Yet Li marries a rich girl upon his graduation. Distraught, Afang seeks to kill herself but is saved by her fellow villager Amao. Amao proposes marriage. The couple settles in Shanghai. Ten years later, Afang's illegitimate son Dalong mistakenly kills the supervisor of a cotton mill who has raped Suzhen, Dalong's half sister. The case comes before Li, now a judge. Dalong goes to prison; Suzhen kills herself. Amao goes mad while a grief-stricken Afang returns to her home village alone.
