内容介绍 : | Fung Pui-ka lives his days as a drunkard, ignoring the advice of others. To help in his rehabilitation, his friend Dr Ho and Fung's wife hold a funeral in his name. A terrified Fung sobers up thinking that he is dead. He is overwhelmed with remorse when he sees his wife pleading for a divorce in front of his tablet. Dr Ho makes Fung unconscious. Fung wakes up having experienced the horror of 'death' and resolves to quit drinking. "Poor Pui-ka" Eager to climb up the social ladder, minor employee Law borrows a necklace for his wife to wear so that they may flaunt the valuable jewel at a forthcoming cocktail party. The couple, however, unwittingly loses the jewel and has to buy another necklace as compensation . Penniless, Law's wife is reduced to becoming a taxi dancer. It is only when the couple chances on the owner that the jewel piece is revealed to be a counterfeit. "The necklace" Expelled by his eldest daughter, Second Uncle stays with his second daughter but is mistreated by her. The old man gets heavily drunk on his birthday and is mistaken to be dead by the two sisters and their husbands. A fight breaks out over the entitlement to the old man's insurance money and inheritance. Now sobers up, a disheartened Second Uncle chooses to leave for an independent life. "Blood sisters" |
备注 : | "This wonderful life" consists of three individual stories The fourth episode "Village girl" was edited out in view of the excessive running timeThesecond film produced to raise funds for the building of a permanent site for the South China Film Industry Workers Union and its welfare fund See the first film "Kaleidoscope" and the third film "Feast of a rich family"Actress Yung Siu-yi, 'She [Pui-ka's wife] is an even more tragic character than Pui-ka if I had made her treat her husband with pure hatred, there would be no expression of love between the couple and she would be a lesser character because she loved him, she hated his drift towards alcoholism, and this increased her pain' (Extracted from the film brochure)Actor Ng Cho-fan: Whether it is sharp satire or solemn didacticism, the three stories [in This Wonderful Life] have a common point, which is to benefit society and life (Extracted from the film brochure)Screenwriter-actor Lo Dun, '[fellow actor] Chow Chi-sing is sick in hospital In view of his long contribution to Cantonese cinema, he warrants our sympathy and help in his hour of need The objective of South China is mutual help I believe our members will support the welfare objectives of the union' (Extracted from the film brochure) |
