内容介绍 : | Lang Yuk-sheung is forced to end her engagement to Mang Chau-ming by her snobbish mother Madam Kwok following the untimely death of Mang's father Hong-ping, the provincial governor. Yuk- sheung's uncle Ching-on is a gambling addict. Deeply mired in debts, he seizes the absence of the girl's father King-tak on a business trip and convinces Kwok to betroth her to Law Yiu-cho, son of a high-ranking family, with hopes of bringing luck to the sickly heir via the auspicious occasion. King-tak returns home too late to voice his objection. Yiu-cho gives his newlywed wife the words that they are to be a couple in name only, and Yuk-sheung repays her gratitude by observing the vow of chastity after his death and rejects Chau-ming's attempts to rekindle their affair. But their entanglement has inevitably led to gossip among the clansmen and the expulsion of Chau-ming from the village. (Continued in Part Two .) (Quoted from DVD cover) |
