内容介绍 : | Third-degree scholar Tong Pak-yuen has given out all his possessions to the poor during the drought years, but his philanthropic gestures leave him debt-ridden, pestered and dunned by his creditor Cheung Fu. To add insult to injury, his wife Lam Suk-ying is given the cold shoulder when she turns to her parvenu sister and husband for a loan; Tong would rather sell their estate at cut-throat prices than demand his impoverished sister and husband to repay their debts. Cheung shows no mercy and puts Tong behind bars. Desperate to redeem her husband, Lam leaves their daughters Tai-bo, Yee-bo and Sam-bo to the care of the old servant Old Man To and sets off to the capital to seek financial aid from her uncle. Meanwhile, Tong escapes with the help from an old servant only to find his house engulfed by a sea of flames, while Cheung the arsonist remains on the loose. As the news of the missing father still eludes them, To and the three sisters embark on a quest to join their mother in the capital. The elderly servant succumbs to an illness during the perilous journey, leaving the girls to face an uncertain future. (Continued in Part Two.) (Quoted from DVD cover) |
