Years later, Sung-kim is named the Miao crown prince, while Sung-kung inherits his late father's post as the frontier commander. Cheung Suk-leung, a Han woman betrothed to Sung-kim in a prenatal pact, flees the war with her mother and finds shelter at the pass, selling wine for a living. Sung-kim sets eyes on the woman and unwittingly drafts her to the Miao fortress to be his bride. Assuaged by her wit, Sung-kim becomes converted and begins learning Han etiquette. On Mo's orders, Sung-kim's troops press the Han border where the brothers are locked in a battle of mutual annihilation. Sung-kim, who stumbles upon a blood letter which reveals the secret of his birth, defects to Sung-kung's camp and exacts revenge on the Liaos after which the betrothed partners tie the marriage knot. |
