内容介绍 : | Hong Sau-chuen, leader of a commoners' uprising against the Qing regime, is joined by his sister Suen-kiu to lobby for the help of Sek Tat-hoi ahead of a planned crackdown by the governors of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. The governors have held Sek's father hostage to make the son pledge allegiance to the Qing court. The father kills himself by running into a column, while the son is locked up in prison. Cheung Chiu, a renegade in Hong's camp, informs the Qing court of the early uprising, alerting Suen-kiu who leads her troops to raid the prison and free Sek. The siblings decide to train and drill the troops for an offensive until the next opportune moment. When Sau-chuen comes into the possession of a sword of deity and a golden seal carved with the words 'Heavenly Kingdom of Great Peace', he decides that the uprising is God's wish. Under the banner of the 'Great Peace Army', Hong and his men fight the formidable Manchus and suffer heavy defeats until Suen-kiu and her female generals arrive to land them the much-needed reinforcements. With renegades in their camp eradicated, the Great Peace Army marches on to capture the capital Nanjing. (Quoted from DVD cover) |
