内容介绍 : | Liang Kim-sum wants to introduce reform to the performance style of her Cantonese opera troupe. She has to mediate the conflict between an avant-garde young director and a conservative old actor. She is busy preparing her farewell performance and making arrangements to migrate to Australia with her husband Chan Yiu-cho and his daughter Mimi. Ying Man-lung, an actor in the troupe and an admirer of Kim-sum is distressed. Yip Yuk-sheung, a young Cantonese actress from Singapore, is forced by her father to work for Kim-sum's troupe. Wong Man-chun, her boyfriend, flies all the way from Singapore to meet her in Hong Kong. Their love is opposed by both families. Nelly, the "sister" of Kim-sum, suddenly shows up back-stage to see her after over two decades apart. She tells Kim-sum that Man-chun is in fact theactress' son, but has been fostered by her. Unwilling to let Man-chun know that she is not his birth mother, Nelly urges Kim-sum not to meet him. Kim-sum only has a glimpse of her son, who is sitting in the auditorium. However, one day Kim-sum meets Man-chun and Yuk-sheung in the street and they spend a happy day together. Yiu-cho tells Kim-sum that he has lost his business and Mimi is suspected to be a lesbian. Kim-sum helps them solve their problems. After she finishes performing her last show, she announces that she would like Yuk -sheung to be her god-child so that she can spend more time with Man-chun. Kim-sum reveals how Nelly helped her in the old days and expresses her gratitude by singing a Cantonese opera episode on stage. She encourages Ying Man- lung to work harder and she says goodbye to the stage on which she has performed for many years. Man-chun promises that he will keep in touch with Kim-sum while Yiu-cho decides to give up his emigration plan. Kim-sum then stays in Hong Kong and enjoys her life as a full-time housewife. |
