内容介绍 :	A couple enters a church on their wedding day, followed by friends and well-wishers. During the ceremony, the guests ask them to tell how they fell in love. The bridegroom narrates the story of Leung Shan-pak and Chuk Ying-toi, a legendary love story, as a moral tale against feudal traditions regarding love and marriage. Ying-toi wants to further her studies but her father rejects the idea because she is a woman. One day, her parents go to consult a fortune-teller. She disguises as a blind fortune-teller to persuade them to change their mind about her going to school. The disguise is seen through but her father, on seeing that she can pass off as a man, relents. Ying-toi thus sets off to Hangzhou to enter a school . On the road, she meets Shan-pak, who is also on his way to school. They share sleeping quarters in the school. Three years pass but Shan-pak is not aware that Ying-toi is a woman. Ying-toi is recalled home because her father is ill. In love with Shan-pak but not wishing to reveal her real sex, Ying-toi reiterates her wish for Shan-pak to visit her home and to propose to her "sister," whom she actually means herself. After returning home, Ying-toi discovers that her father's illness is a ruse to get her back for a marriage. Shan-pak visits the Chuk mansion and discovers that Ying-toi is a woman, but it is too late for him to marry her. A dejected Shan-pak is taken ill and dies. On her wedding day, Ying-toi goes to Shan-pak's grave and kills herself. The lovers are transformed into a pair of butterflies. (Based on viewing of the film. )
